Having not been on the bike for a little while I was super keen for Dave's any my birthday getaway to Barraba with the chapter. Speaking with Dave during the week we decided to take the direct route up the New England Hwy so we had a little more time to chill out and have a few beers before the cold set in for the night.

Now this was an overnighter I had been looking forward to. I generally hate cold weather but I do love riding through winter and stopping at awesome country pubs and perching in front of a hot fire with a cold beer. Thankfully this weekend was looking sunny with a low of 3 degrees at our destination so I was pretty damn excited.

This ride was my first hoggie overnighter for the year and I was super excited for it. Since we were expecting about 30 bikes I thought it best to do a bit of reconnaissance for the best fuel stops and where to stop for lunch so I rode my planned 1,000km loop on Good Friday. This in itself was awesome as it had been a good amount of... more

This was it, my final day and final leg home: Gold Coast to Newcastle. It was an easy run so I had a little sleep in and went out for breaky with the family. It was great. We all went for a walk around the beaches before I needed to head off. It was my best mate Johny's wife's surprise birthday party tonight and I... more

Man what a sleep! I was feeling awesome this morning. I think I'm finally starting to shake the negative thoughts and accept everything that's happened. This is good. And what's even better is another day chasing the horizon. I could seriously do this forever. Dave scoped out a nice bakery so we headed... more

It was a slightly slower start today. We kicked off about half 7 and went back to the pub for a quick photo before trying to find a petrol station that had unleaded fuel. I was starting to get a little worried as the first two had nothing but we found a Caltex on the way out of town that opened at 8am that had fuel so we were in luck.... more

Today was going to be the longest day at roughly 950km so it was up at 6am for coffee and on the road by 7. I would have liked to leave earlier but the group decision was 7am so that's what we stuck to. First leg was to Camooweal 260km away just over the QLD border.

It was a cool morning to kick off but the sky was pretty clear so I was hopeful of it shaping up to a sunny day. After checking out I headed for my bike where the other fellas were waiting. Originally I planned to head home on my own but since Dave and Slim offered to come along, I thought, why the hell not! Dom and Nick from the... more
