After running the Melbourne Marathon on Sunday I was pretty keen for a good ride as with all the marathon training of late I have barely had a chance to throw a leg over the big girl.  Well, today that was about to change!  At first, I thought perhaps Gloucester and the Love Dunny Lookout would be a good option but as it was a cracking

It was nice to see a little sunshine again as we'd had so much rain lately, but where the rain wasn't the wind was and bloody hell it was windy.  As I was down as lead road captain for this ride I was a little concerned about taking too many inexperienced riders up the Buckets Way in such strong wind but hey, I thought, I'll just

Waking up in Nundle we had another below–zero–degree night.  Looking out of my window there was frost everywhere.  Good thing I had a massive blanket, not like Inverell!  After getting packed, I met my parents downstairs for a hot breakfast.  Man this place does an amazing

Waking up in Inverell it was -2 degrees!  I quickly jumped in the shower and waited half an hour for the water to warm up.  It took another half an hour to thaw me out from such a cold night!  Now all warm again, I jumped back in my thermals and got my heated vest cranked up.  Loading

I wasn't far back inland but boy it was a chilly morning as compared to the coast.  It was also great to be inland again simply because riding country roads are better than coast roads.  When making my ride plan this morning I noticed a town called Texas, that I had no idea existed so I decided

Waking up in Bundaberg I was happy to see another sunny day.  I really couldn't believe how perfect the weather has been since the first day.  While packing the bike I was thinking about the route to take as it was the last working day before school holidays so I was expecting traffic around

It felt weird waking up near the coast again after being so far inland, but hey, I was appreciating the warmth.  After waking up I had a quick tub and headed out onto the balcony to take a look at the plan for the day.  I had a tip from Dad to stop in at Agnes Water and 1770, which were right on

Waking up day 3 there was nothing but blue sky and about 5 degrees.  I had 700ks to do today so time to get cracking!

Heading back out of Longreach I rode past the big 747 and was still amazed

Feeling refreshed after a good pub rest it was time to get up and embark on a 900km run to Longreach.  Jumping out of bed at 6am I looked outside and saw the sun rising to blue sky!  After a quick shower I soon had the bike packed and was heading out of town.  The temp was around 5 degrees so a little chilly but nothing too bad.

Waking up to an overcast morning I thought to myself, I'm not wearing wet weather gear as the sun is going to shine!  With that good sentiment I rode out of my driveway and started heading for my first stop, being Tamworth.  Much to my disappointment I ran into rain about half an hour from home, so on with the wet weather gear it was.
